Zunyi, named as “north Qian” popularly, which is the gate of Sichun Province, Guizhou Province and Chongqing (zhixiashi), plays a role of an important transportation hinge of these three provinces. It governs two districts including Honghuagang District and Zunyi Economic Technology Development Zone, two county-level cities including Renhuai City and Chishui City, ten counties including Zunyi County, Tongcui County, Suiyang County, Meitan County, Fenggang County, Yuqing County, Zheng’an County, Xishui County, Daozhen Qinao Minority Autonomy County and Wuchuan Qinao Minority Autonomy County, 165 towns, 54 countrysides, 8 ethical countrysides and 13 Street Offices in the urban area. It covers an area of 30,753 square kilometers with a total population of nearly 7 million. The Han people are the main bodies of the local residents and the people of other 30 minorities including Qinao people, Miao people, Tujia people, Dai people, Hui people and Tong people takes one in ten of the total residents. The average population density is 220 people per square kilometers with the maximum of 832 in Honghuagang District and the minimum of 139 in Wuchuan County. 

According to the primary statistic data and the evaluation given by the provincial statistic bureau, the gross domestic product of the whole city reached 40. 232 billion RMB which had 14.6% increase compared with last year if based on the comparable price and attained the highest record of amplitude since 1991. The primary industry achieved the total increase of 10.444 billion RMB, up 5.8%. The secondary industry achieved the increase of 15.261 billion RMB, up 21.2%. The tertiary industry achieved 14.527 billion RMB, up 15.0%. The structure of three industries adjusted from 27.3:37.0:35.7 in last year to 26.0:37.9:36.1. The proportion of the secondary and tertiary industries totally enhanced 1.3% compared with last year. The per capital gross domestic product reached 5,421 RMB, up 13.7% compared with last year.

General information on real estate industry in Zunyi

In 2005, the total investment of real estate development achieved 23.8 billion RMB and the demand and supply in real estate marked were in a boom.

It was reported that the area of commercial buildings for sale reached 2.2 million square meters and the sale reached 3.7 billion RMB only in last year. The price of the land for commercial buildings was rising while keeping steady and the planning standard and general quality of the commercial buildings were also improved further. The housing managing bureau helped placing a tax on the house contracts which made the government gained more than 20 million RMB as financial income and helped the local departments to place a sale tax, the total money of which was about 60 million RMB. What the housing managing bureau did facilitated the healthy and sustainable development of the economy of Zunyi. This year the planned investment on real estate industry is fixed on 2.5 billion RMB and this industry has become a tower of strength for the urban construction and renewal of Zunyi.
